FAQs
Psychotherapy provides a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors with a trained professional. Engaging in therapy can help you gain deeper self-awareness and break free from patterns that might be negatively impacting your relationships, work, or overall well-being.
Sometimes people seek therapy in order to address specific mental health challenges like depression, anxiety, trauma, substance misuse, or grief. Therapists can also be instrumental in helping you navigate major life transitions, improve your relationships, build confidence, or simply gain a better understanding of yourself.
Importantly, the therapeutic relationship itself can be healing. Having someone listen without judgment, offer different perspectives, and support your growth can be profoundly valuable. Many people find that talking through their experiences with a professional helps them process emotions and gain clarity in ways that talking to friends or family might not.
The length of treatment varies significantly based on your individual needs. During our initial sessions, we will work together to determine an approximate length of service that aligns with your goals.
Treatment typically starts with a 60-120 minute evaluation session. This will allow us to discuss relevant medical and personal history, treatment goals, and start to establish a treatment plan. Ongoing therapy sessions are typically scheduled weekly for 45-50 minutes.
All services are private-pay, and I do not accept any in-network benefits. Please check with your insurance company regarding any out-of-network coverage and reimbursement rates. I am happy to provide a monthly superbill to assist with out-of-network reimbursement.
Under the law, health care providers are required to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
First we will schedule free phone consultation so that I can hear more about what you are hoping to address in therapy and ensure that we are a good fit. If we both agree that we are a good match, I will schedule your first intake evaluation session and send you an invitation to my patient portal, including necessary administrative forms. These forms must be completed prior to your first appointment.
Sessions are held either in person in Manhattan or virtually if you are interested in telehealth. I am licensed to provide telehealth services in New York, New Jersey, and all active PSYPACT states.
I do work with teenagers ages 14 and up. An important part of my approach to working with teens involves working with parents or caregivers and keeping them appropriately informed, while also balancing teens’ rights to privacy. We will all discuss at the beginning of treatment what information gets shared with who. Teens understandably also tend to need after school or evening hours, which unfortunately are more limited. I will be sure to discuss with you in advance what times I currently have available.
